Cemeteries of Northeast Ohio

A new book based on the popular Cleveland Cemeteries. Greatly expanded to include 120 cemeteries in 15 counties throughout Northeast Ohio. Takes history buffs on a journey through time to discover fascinating stories of Cleveland's most notable permanent residents, including celebrities, villains, patriarchs, and just plain folks. Gives details about where and when to visit, historical facts, oldest graves, religious and ethnic affiliation, and profiles of significant individuals buried or commemorated there.

Reviews

“. . . so much more than a listing of cemetery addresses. Vigil has been able to parlay her knowledge of genealogy into a book that has something for everyone. Her stories-in-brief include engaging local history, information on burial customs, and the stories of ordinary people and their triumphs and tragedies. Vigil's affection for cemeteries is contagious, as her writing reflects her appreciation of those resting. Vigil's strong concern with preservation of both artifcats and information is reflected in the section on how to make a tombstone rubbing. Great book for back roads travelers on the lokout for interesting sights you can't catch along the Interstates.” - Ohioana Quarterly

“Anything but spooky. [The book is] surprisingly fascinating, covering 120 cemeteries in 15 counties, including the graves of celebrities and villains. ” - Record Courier
